Hanssem contributes to a sustainable future through actions
to address climate change.
Hanssem is committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions across its operations by 2050, aligning with international climate goals and national carbon neutrality policies. Using 2020 as the base year, it is implementing a reduction strategy centered on renewable energy, progressively reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 and 75% by 2045. Furthermore, through the transition to renewable energy, it is executing a systematic reduction roadmap to convert 100% of its facility electricity to renewable energy by 2050, while concurrently improving energy efficiency and managing facilities.

Hanssem systematically manages greenhouse gas emissions and energy usage in alignment with national carbon neutrality policies and global climate response trends. Based on its greenhouse gas inventory, the company has expanded its management scope to include not only Scope 1 and 2 emissions but also Scope 3 emissions, encompassing indirect emissions such as those from the supply chain. It regularly monitors and reviews greenhouse gas emission status while continuing improvement efforts to reduce emissions across all business operations.

Forest Conservation

Forest Creation
Considering its business nature involving significant timber usage, Hanssem promotes forest creation activities for forest conservation. In cooperation with the Peace Forest Foundation and the National Forest Service, Hanssem establishes seed orchards for nectar-producing trees. Through tree-planting volunteer activities involving employees, the company contributes to biodiversity conservation and carbon reduction. Particularly, by selecting tree species with consideration for bee ecological recovery and implementing continuous post-planting management, Hanssem strives to establish forests as sustainable ecosystems that perform climate change adaptation and carbon absorption functions.
Resource Circulation

Resource Circulation Leather Kits
Hanssem is expanding its resource circulation practices by recycling waste resources generated during the product manufacturing process. It produces ‘Resource Circulation Leather Kits’ using leather scraps generated during sofa production and operates them as hands-on programs involving employees and local children. This reduces waste generation while sharing the value of resources, creating positive impacts on both the environment and society.

Children's Safety Whistle
Hanssem continues its resource circulation efforts through upcycling activities that transform products that have become difficult to use into new value. By recycling Sam Kids plastic storage units to create upcycled safety whistles for children's safety and donating them to local children's centers, Hanssem reduces waste generation while supporting children's daily safety.
